Learning to be like jesus

Study groups meet to learn more about God and the Bible all for the purpose of becoming more like Jesus. Usually a specific topic or book of the Bible is what brings these groups together. There are certainly social and communal aspects to these groups, but they have a much more structured feel. They will often include required reading and study outside the meeting times.

Success, true love, and the life you've always wanted. Many of us placed our faith in these things, believing they held the key to happiness, but with a sneaking suspicion they might not deliver. No wonder we feel lost, alone, disenchanted, and resentful. There is only one God who can wholly satisfy our cravings—and now is the perfect time to meet Him again, or for the first time. In this study, Keller shows how a proper understanding of the Bible reveals the unvarnished truth about societal ideals and our own hearts.

    by andy stanley

Facilitators: Jason Lind & George Bridges

    Cost: none

Come back from the edge overloaded? Maxed out? Our culture encourages us to live as if we have no limits. So we fill our schedules and empty our bank accounts. We do as much as we can, spend as much as we can, and acquire as much as we can—all in an effort to get as much as we can out of life.

In this six-part study, Andy Stanley explains that the secret to getting more out of life is not doing more, but doing less. We must learn to create margin to live the life God intended for us.

Imagine how different your outlook on life would be if you had absolute confidence that God was with you. Imagine how differently you would respond to difficulties, temptations, and even good things if you knew with certainty that God was in all of it and was planning to leverage it for good. In other words, imagine what it would be like to have PERFECT faith.

In this study, Andy Stanley builds a biblical case for five things God uses to grow BIG faith.

We all know it’s important to study God’s Word, but sometimes it’s hard to know where to start. What’s more, a lack of time, emotionally driven approaches, and past frustrations can erode our resolve to keep growing in our knowledge of Scripture. How can we keep our focus and sustain our passion when reading the Bible? Offering a clear and concise plan to help women go deeper in their study of Scripture, this book will equip you to engage God’s Word in a way that trains your mind and transforms your heart.

We will simultaneously read through Colossians (a short and sweet, yet Gospel-packed book), applying and practicing what we’re learning as we go.

Traveling pilgrims sang psalms both on the way to the great festivals of the LORD and as key elements of the worship at these festivals. Just as a song or poem can express feelings of fear, doubt, hope, and joy, Psalms 120-134 model how we can voice our own petitions and praises to our God, who is always available and ready to hear us.

Explore the major feasts of Israel and journey with Beth through this study. Themes of unity, joy, gratitude, redemption, repentance, the power of blessings, facing ridicule, and more are explored in detail.
