FACILITIES MANAGER

Immanuel Church, located in Gurnee, Illinois is hiring a full-time Facility Manager. A mid-sized congregation, Immanuel’s mission is helping people know Jesus and grow to be like Him. Since its establishment in 1895, the church has been innovative and proactive in meeting the needs of its neighbors in northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin. 


Immanuel provides a friendly, interdependent work environment with flexible hours. As a member of the team, the Facility Manager plays a critical role in the creation and maintenance of environments that are welcoming, comfortable and attractive for everyone coming to our campus. As the campus is expanding starting next year, new opportunities will abound to add value in both the big picture as well as in the details. The ideal candidate will do well in a fast-pace environment with a lot of variety in their day, while enjoying the support and encouragement of other staff members who recognize the value of his or her contribution to the organization’s mission. 


Responsibilities

  • Lead with confidence, take initiative and make decisions, view challenges as opportunities, see the “big picture”

  • Buildings: be familiar with and oversee regular inspections of basic building systems, maintain equipment, negotiate contracts (for example: HVAC and elevator maintenance)

  • Grounds: schedule and oversee volunteer mowing team, maintain equipment, negotiate contracts (for example: snowplowing and landscaping)

  • Safety: schedule training for staff and volunteers on emergency procedures, maintain safety equipment, follow up on accident/incident reports, negotiate contract for alarm systems

  • Janitorial: purchase supplies, perform daily janitorial tasks, negotiate contracts (for example: cleaning service and supplies) and monitor compliance

  • Event set-up: approve/deny event requests, set up rooms as requested for all events according to the calendar

  • Budget: develop and oversee an annual budget

  • Manage staff and volunteers, including successfully recruiting, training and motivating volunteer teams


Requirements

  • Be technologically proficient in mobile apps and computer software

  • Be flexible and patient in dealing with other staff members, volunteers and vendors

  • Be able to lift 50 lbs.

  • Work 40 hours/week, including Sundays from 7 AM until 1 PM

  • Pass a background check
